Ever tried to meet up with family or friends in a public setting? Ever been lost or lost track of your family or friends? With Google Latitude, you can share where you are or find your loved one using a home computer or a mobile device.

For clients new to significant cognitive changes, venturing out into the community can be a daunting task especially to new places. Google Latitude is a free tool that may ease the anxiety while increasing one’s independence for some clients and their respective families. Google latitude allows:

– the client to see where they are on a map to find their way

– the family or caregivers to see where their loved one is

To get started, you need to:

  1. Set up gmail accounts for all parties involved (e.g. client, family member)
  2. Download Google Latitude to their mobile or home computer
  3. Invite “friends” to your latitude group
  4. Share and find your “friends” on the map
